The 17th June 2022 was set aside for the 2022 Sports Day. The day has become a culture of the school as it unites all pupils and students from Grade 1 to Form 4. All classes came together to create 4 teams: Chui, Nyati, Ndovu and Simba each head by a super captain.

All routine activities in the school come to a halt on this day so that the focus of the school turns to ball games, field games and team events.

Sportsmanship, Camaraderie and team spirit was the order of the day as Chui, Nyati, Ndovu and Simba teams battled it out in different events.

At the end of the day team Nyati was decleared winner with 223 points closely followed by Ndovu with 222 points. Chui and Simba scraped the remaining points with Chui getting 213 and Simba 209 to clench the 3rd and 4th slots respectively.

What an exhilarating day!

Chaplaincy, Corpus Christi

The annual Corpus Christi Procession in the school this year was on Thursday June 16th. Students and teachers prepared for the procession by preparing the drawings and flower petal carpet on the path which Our Lord was carried through for the beginning of the ceremony. The whole school was involved including parents and some past students of the school; from the preparation of the procession to keeping Our Lord company.

The procession started off in the morning with the exposition and benediction at the library forecourt and ended in the evening at the school chapel. The school had 12 hours from 7am to 7pm with parents, students, staff members and past students taking turns in the chapel praying to Our Lord in the Eucharist.

On Saturday 12th June and Sunday 13th June, The Debate club attended the East Africa Mashujaa debate competition held at Strathmore University. The students comprised of three teams:
1. The Junior debate team, which had: Aaron Njugi, Andrew Kimeu, Augustine Karanja, Emmanuel Mumo, Kwame Kimani, Leandre Saende, Fidel Muthemba, Riki Siddondo and Michael Saende.

2. The public speaking group comprised of: Brian Maina, Kanja Erick, Hillary Wekesa and Ray Mburu.

3. The quiz masters were: Stefan Mari, Tratton Onyango, Mark Angwenyi, Trevor Radonde, Ayub Abdilatif and David Zawadi.

All the teams were competitive in their various categories. The junior debate team emerged position four out of the 46 schools present.
Some of the debaters who were amongst the best top 30 debaters in the junior category. They were: Augustine Karanja, Leandre Saende and Aaron Njugi.

The public speakers, showcased their communication prowess. Brian Maina emerged position two in the highly contested category.
Finally, the crown was lifted by the Quiz Masters who excellently sailed through all the stages and emerged the champions. They were: Trevor Radonde, Stefan Mari and David Zawadi.

It was indeed a great day for the boys. It was a great learning experience filled with fun.

On Thursday 28th April as early as 6.30am the school was buzzing with more traffic as the new lot of Grade 1s arrived with their parents.
Lots of excitement gripped the entrance hall as parents with their sons took photos of the memorable morning.

We warmly welcome the Grade 1 families and wish the young pupils a fruitful school life!

On Saturday 23rd April a group of young lads were ushered into the school for their orientation day.

This was their first day of school. They were introduced to their teachers and shown around the school by the current captains then. On Tuesday 26th April they arrived to start class.

We wish the young students the best of years as they journey their secondary school life in Strathmore School!

KCSE Exams, National Examinations

We wish to congratulate the class of 2021 on a great performance in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education exams released earlier today!

The class posted a mean of 9.885, which is an improvement from the mean of 9.783 posted in 2020. In this exam, 14 students posted the maximum average Grade of A compared to 5 students who posted a similar Grade in 2020. Furthermore, 85 students out of 87 candidates attained the minimum Grade of C+ and above necessary for university admission. This translates to 98% transition rate to university.

There was a marked improvement in performance in English, Kiswahili, Geography and history. French and Computer Studies also maintained their impressive performance!

A BEAUTIFUL PARTNERSHIP

Strathmore School and the Nairobi Metropolitan Services have partnered to give a face lift to the shoulders of Mzima Springs Road.

In 2021, The Nairobi Metropolitan Services paved the shoulders of the Mzima Springs Road as part of their grand plan to provide major streets in Nairobi with pedestrian walkways.

To supplement these efforts, Strathmore School embarked on the street frontage landscaping aimed at giving a facelift to the shoulders. The lead architect in this project was Wycliffe Nyachwaya (Class of 2001). The project entailed planting of grass, shrubs and palms tress as well as installation of bollards, and waste bins.

The fruits of this partnership is the beautiful garden and walkway that gives a welcoming ambience to all those visiting the school; indeed, this has been a beautiful partnership!

We wish to congratulate the Class of 2021 on the good performance in the KCPE exams released on Monday, 28th March 2022. The class attained a mean of 372.13. Although this was a drop from the mean of 382.27 scored in 2020, the class registered an improvement in three subjects: English from a mean of 80.27 to 83.3; Math from 78.05 to 80.9 and Science from 72.30 to 74.0.

The top student this year is Justus Mamicha. He scored 407 marks. He was followed by Alex Kariuki (403). Enock Maina and Trevor Mwaura tied at 400 marks.

We thank the parents of the class of 2021 for your gallant efforts! Your support to this class, especially during the Covid-19 lock-down is much appreciated.

We wish the candidates the best of luck as they embark on the next level of their education.

Silvano Borruso(1934 – 2022) was among the first members of staff at Strathmore College (later Strathmore School). For 60 years he gave himself tirelessly in the formation of the thousands of the young people who passed through his hands at Strathmore. We can keep his legacy alive by contributing to the SILVANO BORRUSO MEMORIAL FUND to enable bright children from needy backgrounds enjoy an education at Strathmore.
