But we are sceptics! It is extremely strange how virtually everyone was predicting a cricket score fit only for the record books against out finest. Why are we so filled with such astronomical levels of disbelief despite everything?

Posted by Administrator on 2004/12/10 7:40:00 (965 reads)

In April 2004 Strathmore hosted the greatest one-week soccer clinic ever. It could only be compared to the reputable Liverpool or Man U youth training programs. The participating boys were from Std 3 to Std 7. The main goal was to learn teamwork through intensive ball-work and to train and perfect basic soccer skills in the youngsters. There were five fit and skilled coaches who kept activities rolling and had a keen eye on the achievement of every boy, and to ensure optimum performance, each boy was provided with his own ball. The main coach was Viberti Nyakango, a past student, sportsman of the year 1996 and a certified Coever Coach. He is also a key striker for his university side in Wollong, Australia.

Talk about the worst that could happen to The Bandits in such a tournament! As fate would have it, this I year's competition coincided with the Kenya Freedom From Hunger Walk. Unknown to many in Nairobi, parts of the city including the precious bus route were subjected to periodic closures by stem though well-meaning traffic policemen. Despite the valiant efforts of the stressed out bus driver, the resultant traffic jams condemned the school's representatives to participation in the lower level Bowl competition for arriving late at St. Mary's - School. Explanations about the bus driver's unavoidable predicament thus fell by the way side as The Bandits were forced to wait for five good hours before playing their rust game at 2.3Opm.

STRATHMORE : TENNIS COURT RENOVATIONS
Posted by Administrator on 2004/12/10 7:10:00 (744 reads)

In 2001 Strathmore School started coaching clinics for Primary students. This lead to continuous use of the tennis court and hence the need to renovate it arose. In March of this year, renovation began. Construction is expected to go on for twelve weeks, so that the courts will be through by mid-June. The new court surface is made of an acryllic material and hence it is softer. This means that people who have problems with their joints may still play tennis without hurting themselves. Also it is almost maintenance free meaning that it only needs to be swept, and has permanent markings. This new court will be made to international standards.
