Westlands Sub-County Games 2024

This Term we took part in Secondary and Junior Secondary Sub-County School games. The next level is the County Games which will be starting soon. The following are our performance in the Sub-County Games:

Under 19 Athletics Results

  1. 4 by100m Strathmore was position 2, Time: 00:48:43. Owen and Sean Qualified for the next level
  2. 200m final: Sean Ochieng was position 1, Time 00:23:62 ahead of pos 2 with 00:25:08. Qualified for the next level
  3. 100m final: Owen Dima was position 2, Time 00:11:56. Qualified for the next level. Overall ranking: position 6 out of 12 with 25 points.
  4. Shaka Otieno: position 9 in Long Jump: Longest Distance thrown; 4.77m.
  5. Ivan Barasa: position 12 in Long Jump: Longest Distance thrown; 4.45m.
  6. 400m final: Daniel Njai was position 5, Time 00:57:41. Position 2 in his heat, Time: 00:56:68.
  7. Triple Jump: Jayden Mbogua was position 10. Longest Distance: 9.60m.
  8. Triple Jump: Kamau Kang’e was position 11. Longest Distance: 9.45m.
  9. 800m final: Daniel Njai was position 8, finished but time not recorded.
  10. Triple Jump: Ivan Barasa was position 6. Longest Distance: 20.65m.

After a successful two day championship,the following were notable results for Under 12 and Under 15 years Athletics teams:

  1. U12; Jaden Kibungei was third in the 100m Heats.

  1. U12; 4 by 100m (Keane Njiru, Andrew Mathenge, Jerome Muriuki, Jaden Kibungei) were position 2, Time: 00:44:563. U12; Jerome Muriuki came in second in the 400m Heats and was 4th in the finals.
  2. U12; 4 by 100m (Keane Njiru, Andrew Mathenge, Jerome Muriuki, Jaden Kibungei) were position 2, Time: 00:44:56 & Qualified for the next level.
  3. U12; 4 by 400m (Keane Njiru, Ivan Gwaro, Jerome Muriuki, Michael Sajabi) were position 3 Time: 03:11:12 & Qualified for the next level.
  4. U15; 4 by 100m (Trevor Karanja, Austin Miseda, Jeremy Patta, Jason Gitanda) were position 1, Time: 00:39:72 & Qualified for the next level.

All the other athletes competed with great zeal and gathered great experience! The future is indeed bright.

The Handball and Swimming teams successfully finished their matches. Both won and will represent Westlands in the Regional Games. The U12 4 by 100m team also won and qualified for Regional Games.

The Handball team faced Kangemi High School in the third place playoffs of the Westlands Sub-County Handball Championship. It was a hard fought match which the boys won 21-14, finishing as 2nd runners up overall.

The boys played well but unfortunately we lost by one basket to hospital hill.

The U19 Basketball Team played against Agakhan for the third place. and won 46 to 20.

They have emerged third place in the sub county level.

Our Junior Secondary School Handball team at the Kilimani Zone performed as follows:

Our primary basketball team played their sub county level games:

Strathmore school (10) vs Kileleshwa Primary (0)
Strathmore School (56) Vs Nairobi Primary (13). The team has advanced to the next level.

Sub County Swimming Championship at Agha Khan High School:
Position and Points:

  1. Strathmore School with 103 Points
  2. St. Marys School with 97 Points
  3. Oshwal Academy with 62 Points
  4. Nairobi School with 60 Points
  5. Agha Khan High with 7 Points
