Swimmers Dominate the Pool from Sub-County to the Nationals!

It has been a thrilling and highly successful Term 1 for the Strathmore School swimming team. From local sub-county showdowns to the grand stage of the National Championships, our boys have consistently proven that hard work, discipline, and a true sportsman’s spirit yield remarkable rewards. Whether in Primary, Junior, or Senior School, the Strathmore Sharks have shone bright across the country.

Here is the comprehensive breakdown of how our swimming stars performed across all tiers this term.

1. Junior School: The Unstoppable March to the Top

The Junior School swimming team (Grade 9) launched their campaign with a powerful message at the Dagoretti North Sub-County Finals held at Lavington Primary on 5th March 2026. Aiming to book tickets for the regional rounds, our boys swept the competition:

  • David Wachira and Osaze Gitonga secured critical qualifications in the Freestyle Relay and Medley Relay respectively.
  • Individual dominance was on full display with Nathan Ngugi (100m Backstroke), Lukka Namulanda (100m Butterfly), Michael Kathambana (50m & 100m Breaststroke), Gabriel Sakwa (50m Butterfly, 50m & 100m Backstroke), Ryan Mukoto (200m Individual Medley, 50m & 100m Breaststroke), and Mathew Njogu (100m Backstroke) all winning their slots.

Moving forward as part of the regional cluster on 18th March 2026, the boys dove into the Nairobi West Sub-Region Finals at PCEA Booth Girls School. Maintaining their momentum, Nathan Ngugi, Lukka Namulanda, Michael Kathambana, Gabriel Sakwa, Ryan Mukoto, and Mathew Njogu forcefully booked their places for the county stage.

At the high-stakes Nairobi County Finals held at the Kasarani Aquatic Stadium on 25th March 2026, the pressure was immense. Our boys joined forces to represent the county team, yielding breathtaking top-tier finishes.

This exceptional journey culminated at the National arena during the KJSSA Swimming Championship (April 2026), where they powered the Nairobi Region Junior School team to a 1st Place Overall Combined Team Title with a massive 196 points! Individual national highlights included:
