The Strathmore School music festival teams delivered a magnificent series of performances at the 2026 Kenya National Music Festivals held at Kibabii University in Bungoma. Representing both Junior and Senior divisions, our performers showcased extraordinary musical talent, discipline and artistic expression, bringing home multiple top-three finishes and prestigious championship trophies.
Highlighting a triumphant festival campaign, the Strathmore Primary School choir was awarded the coveted Challenge Trophy for being the top overall school featuring the best boy-child musical items.
Senior Division Highlights
Our senior musicians set a remarkably high standard across competitive solo and group categories:
- Non-Classical Guitar Solo (1st Place): Keita delivered a brilliant, soulful performance to claim 1st place nationally.
- African American Spiritual (2nd Place): The senior ensemble achieved 2nd place in a highly competitive vocal category.
- Arrangement of African Folk Tunes (2nd Place): A vibrant, culturally rich performance earned our boys the runners-up position.
- Boys’ Set Piece (6th Place): A strong vocal presentation secured a solid top-six finish.
Junior Division & Instrumental Success
Our junior performers displayed incredible musical maturity in both vocal and instrumental categories, securing several national wins:
- Pianoforte Duet (1st Place): Claimed 1st place nationally, earning top marks for harmony and synchronization.
- Piano Solo Intermediate (1st Place): Jenley Njeru achieved 1st place overall, taking home a national certificate and trophy!
- African American Spiritual (1st Place out of 16): The junior choir swept past 15 other schools to take the overall top spot.
- Quartet (2nd Place): A refined ensemble performance secured 2nd place nationally.
- Original Composition on Anti-Drugs (3rd Place): An impactful, original piece highlighting drug awareness earned 3rd place overall.
Additional commendable performances included our Woodwind Solo by Damian (4th Place), Piano Duet Intermediate by Kariuki and Kimani (4th Place), Piano Solo Advanced by Jeremy and Sean (4th Place), Solo Poem (4th Place), Boy Solo by Damian (5th Place), and the Patriotic Song (5th Place).
